The Club Workshop: Leaders Week

To mark the continued growth of Leaders Club, this year’s flagship Workshop will officially launch Leaders Week on Tuesday 30 September with a full day of learning, inspiration, and meaningful connection. Hosted at the iconic Allianz Stadium, the Workshop will feature a full day of practical skill-building sessions, high-level interviews with leading voices in sport, and opportunities to connect with fellow Leaders Club members from around the world. This is your opportunity to be part of the conversation shaping the future of sport – make sure it’s in your calendar.

Speaker Line-Up:

Jessica Berman – Commissioner of the National Women’s Soccer League

Jessica Berman leads one of the fastest-growing leagues in global sport. Under her leadership, the NWSL’s 2024 season – its first under a landmark media rights deal with CBS Sports, ESPN, Prime Video, and Scripps Sports – achieved record-breaking viewership and attendance, surpassing 2 million fans and marking the third consecutive year with over 1 million in total attendance.

With a career spanning more than two decades, Jessica brings deep expertise in navigating high-growth, rapidly evolving environments, including senior leadership roles at the NHL and NLL. She’ll share insights into building resilient organisations, driving innovation, and leading through change.

Maggie Murphy – Managing Director, Aston Villa Women & Matt Cutler – Co-Founder, Lock It In Studio

Maggie is a trailblazer in women’s football, who brings experience from Lewes FC, the FA WSL board, and now leads Aston Villa Women as its first MD. Matt is a former journalist and PR lead at Two Circles, who produces podcasts with Unofficial Partner and co-hosts Expected Goals with Maggie. Together, Maggie and Matt will host a live podcast episode featuring Jessica Berman.

Matthew Porter – Chief Executive Officer, Professional Darts Corporation

As CEO of the PDC since 2008, Matthew Porter has transformed darts into a global entertainment phenomenon. Under his leadership, the sport has seen prize money double and its reach expand through new tournaments and international growth.

Matthew will join us to reflect on his leadership journey, the strategic decisions behind darts’ explosive rise, and how the PDC has built a loyal global fanbase by blending sport with spectacle.

Shona Crooks – Head of Culture, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Management Futures 

In the practical skills session, members we’ll be hearing from Management Futures’ skills practitioner Shona Crooks on the skill of Managing Upwards – how to effectively communicate with and host challenging conversations amongst your senior colleagues. With a chance for both theory and practice over the course of the 90 minute session, members will learn how to use your voice and language to tackle those scenarios where you need to achieve buy-in from those making the decisions in your organisation.

To accommodate the growth in membership of Leaders Club, the flagship Workshop will kick-start Leaders Week on Tuesday and become a firm addition to the calendar.
